New Environmental Law Clinic

I just saw this administrative posting and thought it would be of interest to incoming students:

The new Environmental Law Clinic will launch this Fall 2007 semester under the leadership of Wendy Jacobs. Although the clinic is now fully subscribed for the 2007/8 academic year, more students may be able to be accommodated. If you are interested, please visit the Clinical and Pro Bono website for more information (http://www.law.harvard.edu/academics/clinical) or contact Wendy Jacobs ( wjacobs at law.harvard.edu) as soon as possible.

The clinic will afford students an opportunity to do hands-on, meaningful, real-life and real-time environmental legal and policy work. Clinic offerings will include local, national and international projects covering the spectrum of environmental issues. One of the projects that will be available in the fall of 2007 will be to assist the Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation with implementation of Executive Order No. 484, entitled “Leading by Example, the purpose of which is to put the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other forms of pollution into practice.

Other projects include analysis of impediments to the testing and use of wind power, identifying incentives for broader use of solar power, pursuing litigation and legislative reforms to protect inner-city children from lead poisoning, working with the Conservation Law Foundation on a variety of water protection and environmental justice projects, and assisting the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection with preparation of legal opinions and regulatory policies.
