Focus of the Week: Public Interest at HLS Comments (0)

J.D. Admissions. April 6, 2010

Many of you are contemplating public interest careers and are concerned with the opportunities and support for public interest work. Harvard’s support for public interest – both financial and academic, as well as through its extensive network – is second to none. With several full-time advisors and over 20 years of experience, the HLS Office of Public Interest Advising (OPIA) has the largest network of alumni and contacts imaginable. NGO in Nepal? Yup. ACLU in San Francisco? Yup. You name it, someone has either done it or can point you to the right person to pursue your dream.

But don’t forget the financial advantage of attending HLS if you’re interested in a public interest career. The HLS loan repayment program known as the Low Income Protection Plan (LIPP) truly makes pursuing a public interest career possible for every single student, and generous guaranteed Summer Public Interest Funding (SPIF) means HLS students secure the summer internships they want.

Keep checking in this week as we continue the public interest focus through our blog posts!
