The Class of 2010 broke previous pro bono service records by performing an astounding 329,934 hours of pro bono service, an average of 553 hours per student! In fact, 105 students performed more than 1,000 hours of pro bono service each during their three years. Only 23 students performed the minimum of 40 hours. Seventy-five percent of the class took at least one clinical course, and 59 percent spent at least one summer in public interest work.
Pro bono service is an integral part of the HLS student experience – the Office of Clinical and Pro Bono Programs heads up the pro bono work during the school year, but is only part of the support system for public interest work at HLS, which includes the Office of Public Interest Advising and very generous financial support for both the long-term and summer experience).
