Waiting Comments (0)

Waiting can be stressful.  And I know that as soon as you pressed submit on the LSAC website, you began to wait. While giving every application a complete read—by at least two people and sometimes as many as five—takes time, we do everything we can to take the mystery out of your wait.  The way we do that is via our online status checker.

After we receive your application, you will get an email with your unique username and password to log in to the status checker.  You can monitor the status of your file at your convenience.  Please note that due to our application volume, we cannot respond to status inquiries by telephone or e-mail.

But rest assured, through emails to you and through the status checker, you will always know where your file is in the process.  Here’s a primer on what you may see when you log in to the status checker.

When you first apply, your status will read: Application Received.  This means that LSAC has sent us your application and we are processing it.  Our staff checks to make sure we have all the required elements before they compile your application folder for review.  Depending on the volume of applications being processed, you may see this status for a few weeks.

If our staff processes your application and realizes it is incomplete, your status checker will change to Incomplete Application.  You will also receive an email to the address you listed on your application explaining the missing piece so that you can take the steps necessary to complete your file.

Once your application is complete and ready to be read, your status checker will read Application Complete.  In addition, you will get an Application Complete email from us within a week of your status checker changing to Application Complete.  When your status reads Application Complete it means your application is in a pile to be read, or second read, or third read, etc. If your status reads Application Complete, we are working on it.

Your status checker won’t change again until you have been given a decision.  If you are one of many students whose application is strong, but whom we wish to review along with the rest of our pool, you will be put on hold.  At this point your status checker will read Application Held for Further Review.

So just to reiterate, our emails to you and the online status checker are our ways of helping you know where you are in the process.  I hope this helps with your questions as we move through the cycle.
