Here’s your chance to coach a competitive high school debate team! CRLS is just down the street from HLS. In the Fall of 2006, the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School debate team started as an off-the-record club offering only Lincoln-Douglas Debate to a few students. Since then, the team has become a full speech and debate team, a member of the Massachusetts Forensics League, National Catholic Forensics League, and National Forensics League, an officially recognized CRLS club, and home to over thirty students. As an assistant coach, you and the head coach will have full responsibility and discretion over the team.
*Responsibilities*
-hold weekly meetings to help students prepare for tournaments -help find, cut, and prepare pieces for speech -guide research and case writing for debate -register and recruit judges for tournaments -attend tournaments or find a parent or other chaperon -work with the CRLS administration (transportation, budget, publicity, etc.) -recruit new students -ensure you are replaced if/when you can no longer fulfill these responsibilities
*Compensation*
-a small stipend per year (the school pays all tournament related costs, including transportation and fees)
