The Social Security Administration’s Office ofthe General Counsel (OGC) in Boston, Massachusetts is now soliciting applications for potential entry-level positions in our office from recent law school graduates with one to three years experience who are looking for the opportunity to be part of a vital and exciting legal practice that touches the lives of every American. Duties of the position include providing a full range of professional legal services and advice to SSA’s Regional Commissioner and his staff as well as SSA Field Offices throughout New England. Incumbents’ responsibilities will include the preparation of briefs and other pleadings for filing in U.S. District and Circuit Courts, defending final administrative decisions on Social Security disability and SSI claims, and representing management in employment related actions. All applicants should possess significant work experience and academic standing in the top third of their class, or other superior academic qualifications, and demonstrate excellent research and writing skills. Applicants must be active members in good standing of the Bar of a State, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Complete applications must include a resume, a law school transcript (an unofficial copy is acceptable), proofofactive bar membership, a legal writing sample of no more than 15 pages, and a cover letter.
