 islawmix.com is a project of the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University focusing on the media and policy landscape where news about Islam and the law mix.  islawmix connects news readers, media producers, and legal academics with credible, authoritative information about trends in Islamic law (“sharī’a”) through mapping trends in the news, offering resources about Islamic law, and providing expert analysis by scholars who have significant, relevant experience and expertise. islawmix is seeking interns, Research Assistants, and new hires, beginning in summer 2012 for several positions:

* Editorial Intern or Summer Editorial Assistant. Provides support to the Senior Editor by creating, managing, and sharing content on the islawmix website and social media networks. Duties include identifying news media relevant to Islamic law and to US law, summarizing stories for the weekly news roundup, and archiving news stories. The Editorial Intern is expected to take a proactive role in sharing content through social media with an eye for impact. Candidates are interested in law, civil rights, media, and social media and have good writing and communication skills. This is a paid position, 15 hours per week (with possibility for turning into a permanent position of Editor).

* Development Assistant. Supports the Management Team by identifying and pursuing funding opportunities. The Development Assistant is expected to search for grant and other funding opportunities, prepare grant applications, and assist in preparing for funding meetings. Candidates are expected to have strong research and writing skills, with a preference for those with previous grant-writing experience. This is a paid position, 10-15 hours per week.

* Research Interns / Research Assistant. Support the islawmixproject by conducting research on state legislation, Islamic law, and Muslims or minorities in the media under the supervisions of Professors of Islamic Law and/or site Editors. In addition to research, duties include compiling research results for the website and writing abstracts for existing and forthcoming articles on Islamic law. Ideal candidates are interested in or have a background in law, policy, Islamic studies, and/or journalism, and superior writing skills. This is a paid position (10-20 hours per week).

Research Assistant

 Center for Ethics Fellow Yuval Feldman seeks 1-2 Research Assistants for his project dealing with: Behavioral and Experimental Analysis of Law, The Role of Ambiguity in law, Corruption, Non-Compliance, & Misconduct in Organizations. The RA would help in reviewing literature, writing memos, discussing research hypotheses, design experiments, programming experiments, & running experiments in a decision lab and on M turks. Those with a background in Experimental design, Web Generated Surveys and Quantitative methods are encouraged to apply.
