Calling all students who are interested in serving as jurors in the mock trials for Harvard Law School (HLS) Trial Advocacy Workshop!

Trials will be held Thursday, September 29 and Friday, September 30, from 3:00pm-7:00pm on the HLS campus.  The attorneys in these trials are second and third year law students who would benefit greatly from feedback on their performances.  We are hoping to have 10-15 students per jury to deliberate and to give their judgments on whether the students have convinced them or not in the individual cases.  Please contact Amy Soto at  taw at law.harvard.edu if you are able to serve during one of these afternoons (Thursday 9/29 or Friday 9/30).

Sincerely,

Seeking Student Advisory Committee Members for Clinical and Pro Bono Programs

The Office of Clinical and Pro Bono Programs is seeking students to sit on its Student Advisory Committee.  Students from all class years (including LLMs) are needed to contribute their ideas and suggestions regarding curriculum, new projects and placements, policies, and technology, among other things. Members of the Committee serve as liaisons between students and the Office of Clinical and Pro Bono Programs, facilitating communication between the Office, students, clinical faculty, and the law school administration. The Committee helps the Office identify and address current needs, serves as a sounding board as the Office implements program changes, and assists in strategizing about future programming.

The Committee will meet approximately three times a semester, and lunch and treats will be served.

If interested, please send your resume and a brief email expressing your interest to Lee Branson at  lbranson at law.harvard.edu by Thursday, October 6.  Please also include your regular weekly availability for meetings M-F 9am-7pm.

Submissions Call for Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics Recent Case Developments

The Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics (a peer-reviewed journal published by The American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics) is seeking submissions for its Recent Case Developments in Health Law section. Pieces should be 8-10 pages long, including endnotes, and preferably will involve a new case or legal development from within the past eight-twelve months. Please send your article to  bjenny at jd12.law.harvard.edu by 5 PM on October 12. You will be notified within a week whether your piece has been selected for publication. JLME utilizes its own (non-Bluebook) citation format, so your draft can have informal footnoting (sufficient to indicate to a reader the location of your sources), and if selected, you will receive instructions about how to conform the citations to JLME requirements. Please contact Brenna Jenny ( bjenny at jd12.law.harvard.edu) with any questions.

To students with lockers from 2010-2011: Locker Clean out!

Hello,

The lockers at Harvard Law School are randomly reassigned each year.  As such, we ask that students clean out lockers at the end of each academic year, and by August 1st at the latest.  You should have received a message in May or June informing you of this.   If you have already cleaned out your locker, please disregard this message.

The Facilities office is currently cleaning out lockers, and the majority of them still have personal belongings inside.  Please clean out your lockers as soon as possible.  The items removed will be kept in storage, by locker number, for only 2 WEEKS.  After that point, items will be recycled or thrown out.

Returning 3Ls who will not be arriving until after this point should contact me, and we will do our best to hold on to the contents of your locker.  If you are returning for classes on September 12, you will have until September 16 to claim your belongings.

Contact Tim Cusack in the Dean of Student Office with any questions or concerns.  We will work with students who contact us to hold on to their items.  If we do not hear from you, we simply do not have the space to keep the items in storage.

Thank you,

Tim Cusack
