I just purchased a great new front basket for my bike. It is removable and you can snap it on or snap it off. It is perfect for bringing into the grocery store for a quick shopping.
I also devised a new way of carrying my backpack so that it won’t mush into my daughter’s face, which it would do sometimes when it was on my back. She would try to push it out of the way, which only smooshed it further into my spine. But now I have a way of attaching the backpack to the back of her seat, out of her way and mine.
With the new basket and my new system, I can now comfortably transport myself, my backpack, my happy daughter and a bag of groceries.
I can’t wait to try it out this evening. Here is a diagram:

Nice system. Rada did look a little smooshed in one of those photos you posted a while back.
So how did it work out? I’m considering buying a bike this summer so I won’t have to drive my car the 2 miles to and from the train station. Any advice you can give to someone who last rode her 10 speed around the suburbs of NJ in the 1980s would be appreciated.
This is great, Stacy! I think you’ll enjoy biking.
I would recommend that you start out by taking the 2 mile ride some weekend at your leisure. You might get dressed as if you were going to work, and put all your work stuff in the bag that you’d be carrying, and see how the ride goes.
I’ve ridden a 3 speed bike for the past 3+ years and love it. Its low profile, falls under the radar of bike thieves, and is low maintenance. So I heartily recommend 3 speed bikes. Also, I recommend making sure your bike has a back fender which will protect you from sand, mud, etc.
