Diversity Day

Last weekend Rada and I went to the Diversity Day Parade in Cambridge. It appeared to be Cambridge’s response to the DNC. Sort of like “humph, Boston is getting all the attention this summer: I want to have my OWN party.” The parade was a mixture that could only be seen in Cambridge: preteens from local [...]

Linguistics

Its one thing to be corrected on your english by a three year old. Its another to be corrected by someone who’s only been speaking english for a year.
My 3 year old daughter started her life speaking Kazakh and switched to English last summer.
Lately she has corrected her grandmother on the pronounication of ‘tomato’. [...]

Joy

It is no secret that I love to swim.

The day when she beats me at ping pong seems to be looming closer…

Isabel

Where we were; what we did

Rebecca and Rada ventured into Taughannock waterfall.

…and sometimes Rada got a free ride.

Thomas dropped by for a day.

And Dede and Rada played with water table at the local kids museum.

Isabel played clarinet beautifully, and exuded calm and good cheer while her house was being torn down and rebuilt during our visit.

Away and now back

I just came back from spending a week without a computer. It was refreshing, worry-free and delightful. In the past I gritted my teeth a little during these absences, wondering whether some ‘really important’ email message would arrive while I’m gone, but this time I forgot about everything and enjoyed it all.
There was a lake [...]
