Cold hands

Today we wore mittens on the bike.

It was the first Monday in October. It makes sense that it would be a mitten day. Of course by noon, the air will be warm and balmy with that false sense of security that early fall gives. But this morning I knew and could feel that cold days are ahead.

Its not so bad, really. We have a stash of good winter accessories from last year, ready to be re-deployed. My daughter has a new (well… new to her) winter coat, and we both have good boots.

We can handle the cold. We’re ready. Bring it on, I say.

I must say that this is my least favorite time of year – I’ll take warmth anytime! Not to mention the early-October cold I am now dealing with!
