April and May are the high holidays for birthdays in my family. One follows after another in rapid succession. First, my niece and my sister kick-off the season with a shared birthday. Then its my dad’s best friend Eddie, shortly followed by Rada’s and my friend Frank, and right on the heels of that is my mom. And then 10 days later its…me. By the time it gets to me, most people don’t want to even look at a birthday cake, let alone eat one.
But I digress.
Here we are in mid-season. And yesterday was my mom’s birthday…. and a milestone one at that. There was a small, select group of celebrants, one of whom was a complete surprise to my mom, and we had a wonderful evening. Rada got to help ‘Mimi’ blow out the candles. And it was so much fun, they relit the candles several times just to blow them out again. Here are some photos from the evening:
