Sorry for the slow reply - the mismatch between the caption style in the backend / frontend appears to simply be that the CSS rules are different in each place. This is a tough nut to crack, as we have WAY too many themes installed to ensure that the frontend/backend styles match in all cases. I'm not entirely sure of the solution here. . .

On the dashboard intermittently not appearing - I have noticed this myself. I expect it has something to do with how Wordpress Mu is a slightly modified version of vanilla wordpress and it simply gets "confused" about what it's supposed to show you in some cases. This is in the hopper as something to look into. . .

This is great, and I greatly appreciate all the work that I'm sure has gone into these upgrades. A couple comments:

There seems to be an issue with inserted images; the styles embedded inside a [caption] element are not carrying over to the public side. Embedded images look great in the editor, but are not styled the same when viewed normally (see http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/brandonhaynes/2009/05/01/dotnetnuke-multi-factor-authentication-provider/). For both of the images on that entry, I had to manually float the images and add a link, despite their being displayed properly on the admin side. It would be nice if inserted images were consistently displayed between editor and public view.

Also, I am experiencing issues with the dashboard intermittently not appearing; I'm seeing a blank area instead (the left-hand menu appears). This occurs across browsers (Chrome & Firefox). Random clicking seems to occasionally restore it.
