Notes:

  • RH: journalism lessons for bloggers
  • LW: “When I do journalism posts, I label them.”

    • blogs lack visual cues. This is problematic for many readers.
  • Frassle fan #1 JA talked about some of the features of Frassle that distinguish when someone is quoting someone else and when someone is writing their own text.
  • LW: What should we do with the group?

  • RH: Are we meeting in the summer?
    • JM: Can’t until July
    • SR: Sure
    • WK: no reason not to meet
  • LW: blogging the convention?
    • Should we evangelize the group? Or let people who feel an urge to blog blog?
  • SR: We need to evangelize the group
    • Talk about programming blogs
    • What can be done with the software
    • Feedback from users
  • LW: Overarching project to focus the blog could be good.
    • Tips about blogging could be nice
    • Group blog, especially for helps and tips
    • JM: wiki might work better

    • LW: How difficult is it to create a wiki?
      • JN: I have one for my class (requires logon)
        • It’s not the greatest thing because it doesn’t thread content
  • WK: Anyone want to talk about BloggerCon?
    • BS: “The good thing about A-list parties is that the ‘A’ can mean ‘avoid.'”
  • JA: How can I get a list of events from Harvard and MIT in RSS?
  • How can we communicate better that the server’s down, especially if it’s down for a long time?
    • sending e-mails to the list is the best bet
  • Brunch on Sunday, May 2, at 11 am at Phoenix Landing, 512 Massachusetts Avenue, Central Square
    • Look for the red and yellow restaurant on the same side of the street as the Middle East
