Notes:

  • LW: TechnoGeek has RSS feeds for their wish lists
    • Why doesn’t Amazon do that for theirs?
    • No one knows why, but it would be a good idea if they did.
  • DW: Reuters has RSS now
    • He carried on for a while about all the things they did right and some of the things he doesn’t like about their feed.
  • RH: [Something about] Google’s IPO
  • What about people buying and selling software?
    • LW: It’s difficult for small software companies to break into the software market.
    • SR: People don’t seem to mind buying software over the Internet
  • Photo Matt
  • Word Press
  • DW: Let’s define the ultimate aggregator
    • Let’s spec it and build it
    • Don’t people only want full-text feeds in their aggregator>
    • AG: It would be nice if users could set the preferences
    • DW: Let’s get rid of 3-pane aggregators
      • He wants to focus on the news, not features in the aggregator, not the interface
      • He doesn’t like that it makes him work so hard to get the news
      • SR: uses both kinds of aggregators
        • Reads different blogs on different schedules, reads about 150 blogs
        • doesn’t mind that it marks what’s new and what hasn’t been read the same, DW minds that
      • DW admits to being arrogant about this
  • RH: DW, show us how to do a blog post.
  • GE: Liked BloggerCon; mentioned the Personal TV Networks and Librarianesque Sessions (I swear he did. Honest. I’m not just typing that.)
  • SR: Jeff Jarvis’ session was really cool, neat format, nice to have people talk about how they’re making money, difficult to tell if people were giving commercials while talking about what they’re doing
