Construction note: There might still be a fence around Harkness Commons preventing access to the Berkman Center via the Harvard Law School yard. It may be possible to cut through Pound Hall to get to a parking lot near the Berkman Center. For those coming from Harvard Square, it might be easier to travel along Massachusetts Avenue to the Berkman Center. map

Sunday Brunch: Johnny D’s - UPDATED

8

Joey is in town this weekend - er, AccordionGuy is in town this weekend, and wants to do a blogger brunch while he’s here.

We will meet at 11:30am on Sunday at Johnny D’s, on Holland Street just outside Davis Square. If you can’t be on time, please let me know you’re coming so we can get you a seat. All are welcome, looks like they have plenty of good veggie food as well as meaties.

Hope to see you there.

Addendum 8/1: j here: Brunch was great. There were about ten of us and we sat at two tables. A few bloggers who covered the convention were there and we heard a little bit about their activities. We hoped AccordionGuy would jam with the jazz musicians, but, unfortunately, that didn’t happen. He did, however, seranade a few of us and some children in the park near the T station while we ate ice cream.

DNC Bloggers on The Connection

1

The radio show The Connection aired a discussion about bloggers at the Democratic National Convention Monday morning. The segment will be archived on their Web site and may air again later this evening. In the Boston area, 90.9 FM WBUR carries the show. It is also broadcast on the Internet.

Getting Together with DNC Bloggers

1

So far, j has been in touch with one blogger who is in town for the Democratic National Convention. Has anyone been in touch with anyone else going to the DNC?

To work around the DNC schedule, suggested plans are having brunch or lunch or going out very late at night or all of the above.

One blogger suggested contacting everyone on Cyberjournalist’s list of convention bloggers and anyone else we know of who might be in town this week. Would anyone like to volunteer to do that?

If you’re going to the DNC and you’d like to meet up with us, please comment below.

Reminder: Blog Meetup Wednesday (7/21) in Lieu of Thursday’s (7/22) Meeting

0

We’ll meet at the Berkman Center next on Thursday, July 29, at 7 pm.

Addendum: Quite a few people from Berkman came to the meeting (proof). It was mostly social–no agendas. Lisa took photos.

j Is (Still) Having E-mail Problems

0

If you’ve contacted j during the last few weeks via her profile and have not received a response, please try again. j’s e-mail problems are sending e-mail from that profile into Spamfilterland. If you need to contact the blog group, using the comments could be the best way to do it.

She’s working on resolving those problems, but it may take a while. There doesn’t seem to be a way to edit her profile on this blog to change her e-mail address, which would be the obvious thing to do, and because of a bug with the way membership and e-mail addresses work on these Harvard-hosted blogs, creating a new profile won’t work.

Blog Group Seeks Sexy Convention Bloggers for Good Time

0

Members of our group are interested in connecting with bloggers who are coming into the area to cover the Democratic National Conventnion (DNC) and are willing to serve as resources for those of you who may have questions or need some assistance while you’re here.

We’d like to do something to gather bloggers together, but without knowing what might suit people’s schedules, it’s difficult to make plans. If you are going to be in the area and would like to try to meet some of us, comment below.

Addendum 7/19: Okay, well, you don’t really *have* to be sexy to meet up with us. It was just a title someone at Thursday’s meeting suggested to get people’s attention. We’ll meet with butt-ugly bloggers, too. We just want to network with other bloggers coming into the area.

2004/07/15 Proposed Agenda

0

We are meeting on Thursday, July 15, at 7 pm at the Berkman Center as usual. This week’s meeting has not been canceled.

Proposed agenda:

  • Bloggers covering the DNC

    • Maybe some of our group members with credentials will talk a little bit more about what they hope to do while covering the convention

    • Do we want to try to do anything special with bloggers coming into the area?
      • I’ve heard rumors that a northern neighbor with credentials is looking for some blogging fun while in town.

      • psuedo convention schedule
  • Perhaps an update of some of the things we talked about last week.
  • Can we get Rebecca to talk about a panel she’s on about media and blogs at a conference next month?
  • Guest speakers
  • Reminder: the meeting the following week will be with the Boston Blog Meetup on Wednesday, July 21, and there will be no meeting at the Berkman Center on Thursday, July 22.
    • If anyone has a major problem with this, bug j.
  • makeoutcity.com shirts are available
  • Eat

    • Smile Thai food
    • Cambridge Common last week

No Webcast, but IRC will be available.
