Proposed Agenda:

  • Introductions
  • This week is our first joint meeting with the Boston Weblogger Meetup Group, slated for the third Thursday of every month. The goal of this collaboration is to provide one week a month for a free-form blog group structure centered on informal discussions and sharing ideas, questions, and information. Since this will be the first meeting of the combined groups, we expect to spend more time than usual on more in-depth introductions of who we all are and what nifty things we do related to blogging.
  • End the meeting at 8:15 so folks who want to can switch to the quick Wikimania 2006 Boston bid planning session, also at Berkman, with SJ Klein.
  • What else?

    • Do we want to add more structure to the official “free-form” meeting for next month?

Proposed Agenda:

  • Introductions
  • This week we’ve had two different potential special guests have to cancel. It’s also going to be Yom Kippur, so some of us (both members and potential guests) aren’t going to be around. I (EG) propose that those who will be just go out to dinner. Gather at Berkman at 7 and just see what develops. Come with restaurant and/or discussion suggestions. If anyone has a brilliant brainwave about a guest on short notice, feel free to work on arranging it, just post in the comments or on the list to let us know. (Your friendly scheduling committee has already used up its collective manpower allottment for this week.)
  • Yahoo! News now includes weblogs
  • j here: If there’s nothing better to do, I can make you suffer through a presentation on feeds I’ll be giving next week. I might even get a chance to write it before the meeting.
  • Reminder: upcoming topics:
    • 10/20: First joint meeting with the Boston Weblogger Meetup Group
      • 3rd Thursday of the month
    • 10/27: something wiki this way comes with the Wikipedia Meetup folks
    • 11/3: Archiving weblogs, as in how archives that are interested in saving diaries might preserve blogs postponed at the request of the speaker
    • 11/10: reddit, a community news site
  • What else?
