The Berkman Center’s new blog server for the Harvard community is profiled in a Crimson article this week. Included bonuses are a quote from j and a plug for the blog group!

And yes, this means the new blog server is indeed up and running! If you have questions about migrating your Manila blog, ping Erica or comment here.

Yes, indeed. Yay! PR for our group!

Alexandra kinda makes it sound like everyone blogging on Harvard’s server is using the new software. Many of us are not. I haven’t imported any of my blogs into WordPress yet. I’m not sure when I will. It seems like she’s blurring the new blog server with the new blog software and doesn’t make a distinction between the two.

One advantage I explained that didn’t make the article is how students using a weblog for academic work can gain some extra credibility by having a blog hosted on a university server instead of another service. Of course, anyone with an e-mail address affiliated with the university can blog about almost anything on this server–academic or not.
