2008/02/21 Proposed Agenda: Gender & the Net; Lots of Misc

ø

There’s a lot happening and a lot of miscellaneous stuff we could discuss. There have been a few news articles this week about gender and the ‘net, like The Boston Globe on women and site design and The New York Times on teenage girls as ‘net users. Berkman expanded on this article. Did anyone attend the women and tech conference at Harvard? If so, fill us in. Liana at StopBadware runs a women in tech ad hoc committee. And, of course, Randall occasionally draws about gender and the ‘net, like Pix Plz. That opens the door for me to mention the raunchy video If Business Meetings Were Like Internet Comments.

Friday is Pecha Kucha at the Harvard Design School. Doors at 6:30 p, presentations beginning at 7 p.

There’s an FCC hearing at the Law School on Monday. Details below.

Next week, Clay Shirky is speaking at 6 p, so we will not meet at Berkman at 7 p in order to attend his talk instead. The details: Berkman@10: Clay Shirky on “Here Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing Without Organizations,” 6:00 PM, Austin West Classroom, Austin Hall
