Nagla Rizk’s area of research and teaching is the economics of knowledge, information technology and development with focus on intellectual property and business models in the digital economy, specifically in creative industries, media and software. She wrote Egypt’s strategy for adopting open source software and served as member of both the civil society group and ministerial committee drafting Egypt’s freedom of information bill. Nagla taught at Columbia University, Yale Law School and the University of Toronto. She is faculty associate at Berkman Center for Internet and Society, affiliated fellow of the Information Society Project at Yale Law School and member of the steering committee of the Open African Innovation Research Project (Open A.I.R.).
