“CQ2″ is shorthand for “Condor’s Quill II”, since I had a blog-like mailing list years ago, reporting to family and friends on our travels in Southeast Asia, named “Condor’s Quill.” More than somewhat immodestly, it comes from a line in Moby Dick: “Give me a condor’s quill! Give me Vesuvius’ crater for an inkstand!” Oh, how I envy you if you haven’t read Moby Dick yet.
