Xinhua

Sometimes I read about featherless bipeds and such on a Chinese news site called xinhuanet, or China View, or Xinhua Online.

I tried pronouncing “Xinhua” with my best Chinese accent and it sounded like a Frenchman saying “Chinois”. Is this a coincidence, or an etymology? Does anyone know?

That macaque frightens me. I looked at the picture, and my emotions went from interest, to amusement, to discomfort, to fear, to quickly hitting the “back” button.

    Crazy macaques.

I just looked at it a second time to prove that I’m man enough, and it’s still too scary. Either I’m a big wimp, or that’s really freaking disturbing.

I definitely wouldn’t want to fight it!

I wonder if it walks around and does stuff that monkeys like to do, or if it just shuffles around brain-damaged and zombielike? I’ve had trouble finding any good follow-up on this.
