Yesterday marked, um…well… (laughter) a turning point in my hopes to one day know that Justice Thomas spoke while sitting on the Big Bench. And sure enough he finally, um…(laughter) did say something…um well (laughter) audible.
Although he did not actually ask a question to counsel, and he has read opinions from his big comfy chair before this time he actually tried to speak during argument.
All we know right now is he made a joke about Yale law students and their competency to practice law. I guess it was one of those you had to be there jokes.
This has motivated me to continue my ramblings on this blog…
Good for you J.T., we all need to learn to crawl before we can walk.
As the Florida state attorney finished overcharging Zimmerman with Second degree murder I couldn’t help but wonder if she was aware of her own empty rhetoric of constitutional protection this and right to a fair trial that. I then realized how ingenious she must be for overcharging him with second degree murder. Based on the facts that we currently know there is no way the prosecution will be able to meet their burden of showing “depraved indifference” in this case. If the judge allows he may be convicted of manslaughter because self defense will certainly be raised, or he will be acquitted?. Politically savvy Mrs. prosecutor.

This is my circus now…bring in the clown.
Every day one justice should sit behind a computer and answer questions about the Constitution for the public. This is my proposal for making the Court more accessible. I can you see the “teapartiers” lining up now.
I carry two, not one but two copies of the Constitution with me at all times. One with all theses cool quotes. Like did you know that “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Ya I know me either. And the other is the boring one with only the Constitution in it ( I know boooo!) Well anyways, I know the “Constitution matters” ( my thesis advisor wrote a book on it so I have to say that). But for more than two centuries the document has regulated the affairs of our country and our democracy but are the fundamentals still right for the country as it currently exists. Isn’t it an 18th century solution to an 18th century problem?
How many times have we heard someone say, “Well that’s just my opinion” or “I’m entitled to my opinion.” Maybe maybe not. Because you can string words, syllable’s and sentences together does not mean that you opinion counts for much. Opinions are weighted like everything else. Some mean more than others, some are more informed than others and some turn out to be factual accurate. So next time you state you opinion ask yourself “Do I have any actual knowledge about what I am about to comment on?”
Oh yes, the irony of this post is not lost on me.
According to CNN it costs taxpayers 2.4 cents to make a 1 cent penny! LMAO. But wait theres more….it costs 11.2 cents to make a 5 cent nickel! LMAO 2x. Now thats what I call econonmic optimality!
