		<description>You can&#039;t start with the teachers.  You have to start with the target, the objectives, the REAL reasons our system encourages a young person to learn...right now it&#039;s money.  Here&#039;s how you work backwards: I need money so I want a good paying job...that requires a college degree (not necessarily an education).  So how do I get to college?  I have to perform well on SAT/ACT and school GPA.  How are those set up?  Essentially Wrote Learning.  How do schools secure funding? (No Child Left Behind)  Get kids to do well on Standardized tests...focus...Wrote Learning.  All of the goals/outcomes that really get measured are focused on memorization.

The system has the wrong objectives.  Just teaching teachers how to use computers (which we should do) is not going to foster critical thinking.  Our society obviously doesn&#039;t value deep thinking, because it&#039;s not what we set as the objective.  We don&#039;t measure that.  Critical thinking isn&#039;t what scores high in school testing or standardized testing.  Make a different test...have different entrance requirements in college...create different models for funding...and schools and teachers will change.</description>
