Twitter is made for reporting something like this, quick updates as and when they happen.

Brilliant.

All those "repetitive" tweets represent people passing news along to their own followers. It's not just an echo chamber; it's spreading ripples.

JP - Thanks for pointing that out! And thanks for your kind words on the book as well.
Mayank - Great followup post too -- a bit like Google hacking. The great thing about Twitter is that because of its simplicity, it's so easy to search and listen in (and the advanced search tools are provided). This is in contrast to most other social media sites, where there is a wealth of information, but it's extremely unsearchable. One of my great frustrations with Facebook is that there's way to search old wall posts, messages, statuses, etc.

Thanks for the reference to Confused of Calcutta. One aspect of the debate, that of the echo chamber and signal-to-noise ratios, is one that continues to intrigue me. I'd love to hear more on the subject from your readers. Incidentally, I reviewed Born Digital some time ago here: http://confusedofcalcutta.com/2008/11/02/when-you-see-a-fork-in-the-road-take-it/
