I can relate in a big way. Not only are my parents on Facebook but my grandparents! In the new age of Internet transparency I feel like my whole family is watching my every move on-line. I love them and I guess it is a good thing they keep me in check!

I joined facebook at the invitation of one of my longtime friends. My great niece is also on facebook. She is a college sophomore. Some of the post that came from her wall (both from her an others) were so inappropriate that I blocked her!

My Parents Joined Facebook.” Below, in all caps: “Congratulations! Your parents just joined Facebook. Your life is officially over.” The site is myparentsjoinedfacebook.com, a collaborative portfolio of social doom. In the grand instatradition of thematic tumblelogs (see: ThisIsWhyYou’reFat, Scanwiches), MyParentsJoinedFacebook isn’t so much website as permutations on a sentiment. Every new screengrab conveys chagrin, disdain, and bewilderment at the impressive range of collisions between the incongruous ways digital natives and adults use Facebook.
