Help for Macworld attendees

Understanding Apple’s product cycle.

I usually make it to Macworld for a day or two if it doesn’t conflict with CES. This year it didn’t, but I’ll miss it anyway because I’m too busy and based on the East Coast now.

So I’ll miss being gaussed by Steve Jobs’ aura. But I’m sure there will be plenty of noise around it. As that link above explains.

  1. Then you have the alternative…

Steve Jobs has a neat idea.

Apple’s tech crew tries to realize that neat idea.

Steve announces the imminent arrival of his neat idea made flesh.

The tech crew discovers (yet again) the Steve Wozniak was Apple’s original tech man for a reason.

Talk about the neat idea softly, silently vanishes away.

Microsoft learns about the neat idea.

    Develops the neat idea.

Microsoft customers learn why that neat idea wasn’t so hot to begin with.

Steve Jobs comes up with another neat idea. Lather, rinse, repeat.
