They’re putting me on this now, so I’ll feel no pain and breathe more deeply. Which I’ll need to prevent a slightly collapsed lung from turning into pneumonia. That’s on top of the pancreatitis.
All from an inconclusive diagnostic procedure.

Hang in there Doc! They used hydromorphone (Diluadid) on me when I had kidney stones. It works quicker than Morphine, but they don’t have to keep giving you as much. Hang in there!

doc, breathe as deeply as you can - I’m praying the new pain med will let you breathe deeply.
I’d like the blogworld’s top docs to speak up and for one of them to volunteer to consult on this case. ASAP. It helps with accountability and providing plain-English explanations of what’s going on to have your doctors putting their heads together with other doctors.
SERIOUSLY, somebody pipe up with a pancreas specialist who’s open to consulting on Doc’s case. If I may be so bold.

Hi! I have been where you are right now. I retained a stone in my main pancreatic duct, ERCP to remove it, damaged my duct, and guess what? Spent a couple weeks in the hospital. Fun. I don’t want to scare you, but I am still suffering from that first attack 7 years later. Mine turned into Chronic pancreatitis. The damage was done during that ERCP. Find a good pancreas doctor, and ask questions…and keep asking until you understand… keep searching for answers if you (heaven forbid) continue to have pain and problems. I pray you won’t. Take care.

Doc,
We don’t know eachother, but I was at your presentation at MoMo Amsterdam a few weeks ago. I was impressed by your ideas and enthousisasm for spreading them.
Anyway, Maarten (dutchcowboy) told me you’re in hospital and started a blog ’bout your disease.
So, I just wanted to wish you all the best and hope you recover soon.

Hey Doc, Suzi said “find a good pancreas doctor”. THAT is excellent advice for any part of the body. Been there and done that with several different bits of my body. The key words I have discovered are “Who is an ARTIST in the field”. The person doing the ’stuff’ is the key thing here, not necessarily the hospital, drugs, etc.

I don’ really know what to write other than to say that I had a mild bout of pancreatitis as a five yr. old and the experience is still a vivid memory some 50 yrs. later. Here’s to a full and speedy recovery!
