On July 1st at approximately 4:30PM my daughter reported the Gap Fire on her cell phone while driving home. She spotted a little flame and some smoke up on the mountain near West Camino Cielo. Why do they give the official time at 5:45 PM as the start of the fire. Did it take that much time to react????

I've been looking and will put some resources up on the next post. Stay tuned.

FWIW, KTYD/990am/1490am seems to be covering the story live right now. 1:58pm Thursday.

[Later...] <a href="http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/doc/2008/07/03/gap-fire-2pm-thursday/" rel="nofollow">I just put up a post with lots of links</a>. 3pm.

I think it's pathetic, KSBY reports that Dos Pueblos was the site of our evacuation center. KEYT shows a map of Los Padres with the fire starting in Refugio and Camino Cielo. Rather than misinformation I believe "no news is good news" until they get it right! In this age of automated 800 numbers our up dates come from God knows where. Isn't there an agency that recieves sattelite pictures super imposed showing smoke, wind direction and speed and actual fire?
Thanks for your continued help.
