Online Gambling Sites are still illegal
The appeal of lifting up the ban of online gambling by New Jersey-incorporated Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association was turned down by U.S court. The law of banning internet gambling will still continue. In 2006, all the online gambling sites were marked as illegal and the credit card companies were banned from processing the payment for these websites. The chairman of the Interactive Media said that they were disappointed that the law wasn’t changed.
The online gambling ban is not for all the states of the U.S. It will continue in just 6 states. In the remaining states the online gambling is still legal. U.S is taking serious action against the online poker players. Few months ago the Federal authorities of New York froze the account of more than 26,000 online poker players. The total money in their accounts was around $34 million. Every day U.S is taking down online gambling sites. The U.S court said that the reason for shutting down online gambling is that there is no privacy of players online and there is also a huge risk of money laundering.
Many online gambling sites are protesting against this law but still there are few big online websites who are staying neutral in this case. Everyone was expecting that after three years the ban will be lifted but U.S court is taking serious actions and is not at all thinking to lift up the ban.
Still there are many U.S based websites who are doing online gambling and more and more people are joining them. However, due to the legal ban the numbers of online poker players have decreased a lot. Many online gambling websites closed down their business as their players database was decreasing day by day due to the online gambling law. Many chairmen of big companies are appealing the court to legalize the online gambling as it doesn’t involve too much risk and is a source of income for many people of United States. No doubt the online gambling is full of risk as anyone can hack the full site and destroy the balance of players. Many people think that the ban of online gambling will be lifted by U.S court in the next hearing as there are very few risks involved in it and a gambling website is just like any casino in some city of U.S.
