If it hadn't been for Turing, no question, we would have lost. Period. Turing was a homosexual and after the war, was hounded virtually to death by the Brits because homosexuality was against the law. Turing eventually committed suicide, by ingesting poison (presumably in an apple) The apple logo is in fact a rainbow, indicating solidarity with the homosexual community. There is a BITE taken out of it, a reference to Turing's eating of the apple. Turning also is one of the founders of modern computing.
