Researchers at Temple Universtiy report that Chinese youngsters, 18 months to 2 years old, are acquiring English language skills faster than their native-born schoolmates. Surely this is evidence that multi-lingualism is an enriching advantage, at least in young children.

“Surprisingly, the majority of the toddlers and preschoolers we studied showed no evidence of delay in their English language development as compared with their U.S.-born age-mates. Indeed, many of the adopted children had language skills that would be considered excellent for children born here,” said Krakow, associate professor of communications sciences in Temple’s College of Health Professions.

Dear Maggie,

It was wonderful to receive your letter and realize that so many others are thinking of Michael and praying for him. Unfortunately, I can’t give out his private email or phone number – he is very protective of his privacy and has been know to change all of his numbers and email if they are given out to the public – as well as completely cutting off the supposed “friend” who committed the sin. I don’t want that to happen to me!

However, if you can send me the message, I promise that the next time Michael calls or writes me I will pass it along. I know he appreciates the support and prayers he is getting from all of the people like you he doesn’t have time to thank personally.
