A part of 672 skydivers from 42 countries leap into the air over Bangkok
Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004. The event, a part from setting a record
for mass free fall, was staged to honor Thailand’s Queen Sirikit,
who this year celebrates her 72nd birthday, an auspicious one for
Buddhists since it marks the sixth 12-year-cycle of life. The previous
record of 572 for a mass jump was set in Bangkok in 1999, according
