The trusty T token is going the way of the elevated Central Artery and
the Boston Garden. But to get Bostonians to embrace a new automated
fare system — featuring a debit-like card that passengers will swipe
through a slot, the transit agency is trying to come up with a catchy
name.

as a choice after Stephen A. Berrang, the man heading the T’s automated
fare collection effort, showed relatives a list of the suggested names.
Only his 9-year-old nephew liked it
The tragic
electrocution of a New Zealand tourist who stepped on the
third rail at an Orange Line station last week eliminated that choice.
