On December 9, 2011, the Digital Public Library of America Secretariat convened a small working meeting with a representative of each Beta Sprint project presented at the October 2011 plenary meeting, members of the DPLA Technical Aspects workstream, several key industry players, and a small group of technical experts to develop a technical spec that will serve as the basis for development of the DPLA platform.
At this meeting, we aim to take a significant step forward by specifying the common services and technologies necessary to create a generative DPLA platform that will allow for rich and innovative development of future applications. A key goal for this meeting is to make progress in differentiating deep infrastructure from services to be built on top of that infrastructure.
The outcome of this meeting will be a technical spec for the DPLA platform that will be shared with the Technical Aspects Workstream, the Steering Committee, and the broader public for comment.
