Lisa, thanks for writing. I don't quite understand your complaint that I'm putting words in Hope's mouth. I quoted her saying it was up to the voter. Of course, that puts her in the second category of politicians that I find annoying (see the opening paragraph): those who clearly imply their opponent is sexist, but then refuse to take responsibility for making the claim.
As a Democrat who wouldn't vote for Sweeney, even if I were living in his district, I have no comment on the merits of the campaign. Let me just point out that incumbents of sll parties ignore, or try to diminish the stature, of their opponents (especially those with no elective office experience).
Again: the point of my posting: save the feminist outrage for the important stuff and lighten up.

Don't put words in Hope's mouth. I read the story, when asked if the remarks were sexist, she said it was up to the voters to decide that.

So what's wrong with that?

Sweeney's comments were intended to be dismissive of the opponent. Calling her a resume and a pretty face is a way of treating her like she's somehow not one of us.

It is too bad that he can't focus on an exit stratgey for Iraq like Gillibrand has. Or that he never delivered on his promises a few weeks ago to clear the coulds of scandal in congress.

All he has are flippant insults and that just isn't going to cut it. He should decide if he's running or not and announce. From what he's been doing, it looks to me like he wants to just rough up the Dem candidate with snide remarks and low blows and then he'll bow out and a more polite and professional candidate will step in.

Time will tell, but if he's not planning to bow out then why doesn't he just announce? What other information does he need to be able to make this decision?
