Yeah, but Repbulins are still the party of racism, no house Republicans voted for the stimulus bill and they're not even giving Obama the one hundred days of support new presidents traditionally get. What's the biggest difference between Obama and Bill Clinton? Obama is black. I don't see why else they are so critical, right from the start.

I think white people should go above and beyond, and really show they are not racist - that's the only way you can overcome a built in system of advantage. That's what affirmative action is all about and that's why Republicans hate it, they are racist. In my opinion, anyone not wanting Obama to succeed - is a racist!

Hello, Bruce. Racism is clearly not entirely gone from America (or any other nation), but the Obama election is a good sign that our society is improving on that point.

I'm not too sure that Obama being half white helped get him many racist votes but, it might have helped win over some folks who worried that "he's not enough like me." In America, racists tend to shun or condemn any person with the slightest amount of non-white blood.

At this point, I think party politics has far more to do with the criticism Pres. O. is getting than racism. I don't believe any politician should get a free pass on the issues because of his or her race. President Obama surely does not seem like the sort of person who wants special treatment because of his race.

Americans are still hopelessly racist and whites continue to be bigoted. Look at all the criticism and questioning Obama is getting! As a Democrat, I think Obama as the first black president deserves an extra chance.

Also Obama isn't really "totally black," so this doesn't really show racism is over. A lot of racist blue collar whites probably only voted for Obama because he was half white.

Open to interpretation: Upwards of 80% of white Americans say they are comfortable with a black candidate, but over half say Obama's race will have a negative impact in the election.
