- Only requires small learning curve
Limitations:
- No synonym control
- Lack precision
- Lack hierarchy
- Lack recall susceptible to gaming (spamming)
Solutions:
- Address limitations with tag clusters, tag bundles, faceted tags, deep tagging in video

QUESTIONS
Is social bookmarking a fad or a trend?
On what online resources would the incorporation of social bookmarking be beneficial?
Should social bookmarking be incorporated into perpetual resources like HOLLIS?
How are comments maintained over time? Are they perpetual, weeded out occasionally, all removed on some timetable? Whose responsibility should it be to perform maintenance?
What impact will social functionality have on public terminals?

Of course Social Bookmarking is not a fad or a trend.
In fact, it has become one of the most sought after ways of getting websites noticed on the internet, especially with trying to index newly created websites.
Unfortunately, the search engines have started paying less attention to Social Bookmarking sites due to spam, but this does not mean that its useless.
Manual bookmarking in my opinion is a pain to do, but there are alternatives.
Spam-like bookmarks do run the risk of being removed. The key to bookmarking is to remember not to JUST bookmark one site. Bookmark lots of different sites so as to look more natural.
