Nominated in 2012 by President Obama, Grande H. Lum ’91 is Director of the Community Relations Service (CRS). Created by the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the CRS is the US DOJ’s “peacemaker” for community conflicts, tensions, and hate crimes arising from differences of race, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or disability.
