Ed Felten on NSA wiretapping

The always-interesting Ed Felten has published the first of what he promises will be a series of posts on the technological (rather than legal) dimensions of the NSA wiretapping debate. In this first installment, he posits that Moore’s Law means radical improvements in the ability to store and algorithmically sift the contents of communications. Thus, important architectural barriers to wiretapping are disappearing. Clearly, that will have to become a consideration in developing the appropriate legal response.

This series probably will be a must-read.
