Why Don’t We Treat Strokes More Effectively?
Posted on May 8th, 2006 by Derek Bambauer
Answer: inadequate funding, lack of knowledge by both physicians and patients, and fears (probably unfounded!) of legal liability. I’m a co-author on an article in Archives of Neurology that analyzes this problem. For you academics out there, the cite is: Kara Z. Bambauer, Claiborne Johnston, Derek E. Bambauer, Justin A. Zivin, Reasons Why Few Patients With Acute Stroke Receive Tissue Plasminogen Activator, 63 Arch. Neurol. 661-664 (2006). E-mail me if you are interested.

EXCELLENT article — informative for legal scholars, health policy scholars and doctors interested in stroke treatment. I highly recommend this article!
