You Can Change Everything

This next month is critical to our campaign. During the next 29 days, we are going to prove the staying power of the grassroots— prove that you have the power to change the way politics is done in our country– and we are going to create the September to Remember.
We have 29 days to reach our goal of 450,000 supporters by September 30th. 29 days to spread the word about Howard Dean; to show that the 8 days that shook the race at the end of June were merely the beginning; and to show that the grassroots is strong enough to take on the special interests and defeat George W. Bush in 2004.
To reach our goals, we’ve divided the month of September into three ten-day sections. From today through the 10th, we’re asking you to continue to focus on building the campaign and asking others to join the Dean community. If you and the 344,000 other Americans reading this email each bring one person to our campaign, we will reach our goal of 450,000 supporters. You can also help build the Dean community by going to your local Dean Meetup tomorrow, Wednesday, September 3rd at 7pm. Tomorrow’s Meetup is about putting politics back in the hands of the people—and making a difference in this election. After the 10th of September, the next 10 days will be focused on demonstrating the visibility of the grassroots in all of our communities— by tabling or flyering, or hanging a sign in your car or yard—which will culminate in a national “Visibility Day” on September 20th, when we’ll ask Dean supporters to come together for locally-organized, major events that demonstrate the breadth of your community’s support for Howard Dean.
During the final ten days of the month, we’ll be bringing out the bat and asking people to contribute, to prove once and for all that the grassroots have the power to take our country back, and to shock the system to a greater degree even than at the end of June, when thousands of Americans demonstrated that their individual contributions had the power to shake up this race. Thousands of people are working every day to restore a politics of community in our country, where individuals work together to make a difference again — and where we believe in each other again as Americans. Your action, no matter how small it may seem, makes a huge difference when combined with the actions of hundreds of thousands of others. If you do three things this month for Howard Dean—join Meetup, or ask a friend to join the campaign; hang a poster or hand out flyers; and contribute whatever you can to the campaign– you will have proven that the American people are ready for a restoration of a politics of meaning and participation.
