Holocaust Museum calls Darfur a “genocide emergency”–its highest level of alarm

August 1st, 2004 · No Comments

Conditions may be getting
much  much worse in Darfur Sudan, as reports of atrocities are
rising, suggesting that the situation is spiraling down into hate and
racism and demonization of the victims.  This is unfortunately a
well-known social psychological aspect of genocide.

The United States Holocaust Museum is
calling the situation a “genocide emergency,” its highest level of
alarm. This is the first time in the museum’s  eleven year history that this
level has been declared.

See Zephyr’s post tonight.
