The UK Guardian has named as “Top Blog” the community-based, all-volunteer newsblog Sudan: The Passion of the Present.
Thanks to all of the Berkman folks
(where POtP was born) and blogosphere friends, and friends in the human
rights and new politics movements for pulling together to make Sudan: The Passion of the Present into something worthwhile.
The blog community is what makes the site what it is. Over
the past few months the blog community has demonstrated a willingness
and an eagerness to address realities outside of the developed world,
and to take on the difficult and repulsive issue of genocide.
The genocide in Sudan is by no means over, but sometimes it is nice to
delight in small victories and small signs that what we are doing is
gaining wider support. Thanks very much to the UK Guardian –
known as the “Guardian Unlimited” online, for bringing more attention to Sudan and the genocide in Darfur, as well as to the site.
