robert scoble has a nice post on internet connected components..
as bob dylan once said, “everybody’s having them dreams” of a world of thousands and thousands of open, interconnected web services—
now that would be an ecosystem….
hey, we already have that with web sites…they are just simple services…
but now services are evolving from the interface outward, that is, what you can do with the interface, in relation to other services, is where the innovation is happening.
unlike the e-commerce era, when the innovation happened from the interface inward..that is, a simple gateway into complex services and experiences encompassed in an e-commerce website.
now you have complexity happening in the interaction of simple websites, many of them, with specialized and varying capabilities, but all of them geared to take simple imputs, make a transformation, and give a useful output in a simple format…

oh yea, a bunch of scoble’s commenters liked “web toys” for these sorts of services…i could go for that..
an ecosystem of toys…
