Grandma Stearns on the Today Show

Wednesday, April 30th, 2003

I just learned that my step-brother’s grandma (that’d be his dad’s mom), Grandma Stearns, is going to be on Thursday’s (May 1) Today Show because she’s turning 100. My step-mom considers her to be her grandmother. I’ve heard a lot about this lady, but haven’t met her (yet). Way to go, Grandma Stearns!

I punched one of my best friends in high school in the arm over a misunderstanding that is quite trivial in the grand scheme of things. Brian Bacon, I apologize to you here in this public forum.

Liz Donovan of the Miami Herald linked to my blog!

Monday, April 28th, 2003

(no pressure no pressure no pressure no pressure no pressure) Check under Friday, April 25 right below the lyrics to “Rocky Top.” Liz is a terrific news researcher who’s much admired among her news librarian colleagues. Her blog was featured on Newslib, the Special Libraries Association News Division and main news librarians e-mail discussion list, […]

Peeps Research

Monday, April 28th, 2003

“Peep Research: A study of small fluffy creatures and library usage” by Susan Avery and Jennifer Masciadrelli of Millikin University. And people say librarians have no sense of humor. After last Thursday’s blog meeting, I had a discussion with a librarian who’s my upstairs neighbor and someone I met in high school, Vernica, about what […]

Bush Regime Playing Cards

Monday, April 28th, 2003

A few of my friends know I’m on the lookout for a deck of the cards depicting the 55 most-wanted Iraqis issued to the US military. Here’s a slightly different version of that deck of cards some of you might appreciate. Note that this deck has 52 cards instead of 55. I’ve heard of people […]

Ernie Pyle’s Columns

Friday, April 25th, 2003

I admire war correspondent Ernie Pyle. Until today, I don’t think I had ever read any of his columns, but I knew who he was and I appreciated the work he did. Indiana University’s journalism program has begun to put some of his pieces online. Maybe Harvard should have broken the tradition of not awarding […]

Still no real luck with themes in Netscape

Friday, April 25th, 2003

Well, the only theme I can get to work for this blog in Netscape is this *lovely* red one. (I hate red.) Last night, I heard that the problems with the themes and Netscape were resolved, but I couldn’t find another theme that worked in Netscape 4 besides this one. I downloaded Netscape 6 on […]

No luck in Netscape

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2003

Well, I’ve tried to find a theme and colors that’ll work in Netscape, but I haven’t had much luck. This is about the best I can do.

I hate sites that only work in Internet Explorer

Monday, April 21st, 2003

and this happens to be one of them. It looks okay in IE, but the colors and navigation don’t come through in Netscape. I was warned about that before I began working on this blog, but now I know it’s definitely true and a problem. I’ll see if there’s something I can do about it […]
