Good Quote for Librarians
My friend Kevin e-mailed me this item this morning. I’m posting it here with his permission.
“This quote was sent to STUMPERS for verification (probably WWII Seabees), but it struck as a likely motto for librarians who at any time do reference/public service work:
‘We the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible
for the ungrateful. We have done so much with so little for so long that
we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.’”
STUMPERS is a listserv where librarians can ask for assistance on reference questions, usually ones that are very difficult to answer.
(Paul will think the quote is about the Army.)

The quote is attributed to the Metro Para Pledge, and can be found on http://www.quotationspage.com under the search of Coles Quotables, and is posted there with permission from his collection of over 2400 quotes.
And yes, I believe it is about the army!

See? I knew someone out there would have the answer. Thanks so much, Paul!
