I’m Back in the Land of Those with Internet Access at Home
Out of sheer frustration, I tried something a blog reader suggested to me over the phone last night and it worked. I’m so baffled. If I summon the dialtone on my cordless phone, my modem can dial fine. I can get a dialtone fine from the back of my modem, so I didn’t think the phone line going into the modem was the problem. When I want to talk on my corded phone, I also have to turn my cordless phone on first. Now, anytime I want a dialtone, I have to turn on my cordless phone. Bizarre, eh? I guess I might need some work done on the phone jack in my apartment. Gee, I hope my cordless phone never goes dead. Otherwise, I won’t be able to place any outgoing calls.
So there we have it. That funky DITL 130 error message I was getting has something to do with the phone line.
Thanks to everyone who listened to or read my gripes and special thanks to those of you who offered suggestions, except for the guy who said I should just trash my Mac and get a PC.
(Thanks for the suggestion, Paul! (Not you, PLH, the other Paul.))

Hey, now I know why I’m getting a busy signal. In retrospect email was not best the way to communicate today.

Yeah, it took a little while to download the115 e-mails that piled up in the last two months.
(Andrew’s too fast. I was still in the middle of writing that post when I noticed it had a comment already. Does that boy ever leave his computer except for blog group?)
