Lots of Election Traffic in My Referer Log Today

If anyone doubts that people search the Internet for information about candidates close to or during an election or that information on Web sites is important to voters, here’s something to chew on: much of the traffic I can read through my referer log is coming from searches based on terms related to today’s primary election in Somerville. Most of the search terms are the names of the candidates. They’re probably landing on my reports of a tea with Mayor Dorothy Kelly Gay and the Progressive Democrats of Somerville (PDS) Forum.

I voted on my way to work this morning. It took me longer to lock my bike up than it did to walk into the precinct and vote. (Not that it takes me a long time to lock my bike up.) Sadly, there were no other voters there and there was no line because many people don’t vote in primaries.

I sure feel sorry for those Californians who will have a much more complicated time voting than what I did today. There were only three people on the ballot–all competing for the same spot.
