I gave a friend a librarian action figure for her birthday. Another friend of ours and I had talked about pooling money to get her something really special. When he found out I had given her the action figure, he asked if there were any accessories or companion dolls for it. I said that I didn’t think so, but it’s made by the same company that makes the Jesus action figure. He said, “Imagine the librarian action figure shushing the Jesus action figure …”

I went to my friend’s office this morning and saw her showing the toy to her office mate. I didn’t even think she’d bring it to her office. It made me smile. My friend and her office mate think the toy looks more like it’s picking its nose than shushing, though.

My friend thinks she should have a cat on top of her stack of books. I suggested that the reason why she doesn’t come with a cat now is because none of the books are open and the doll isn’t reading any of them.
